Cholestrol the silent killer
About 7 years ago I went to my doctor for a regular check up I thought. The doctor said " let's check your blood pressure " No worries I thought I felt fine , then he said " Let's make another appointment in the morning ,don't have anything to eat I want to take some blood . Your blood pressure is up so I want to rule out a few things.
I walked out the door thinking the worst I have diabetes in my family so that was what I was thinking . When I went back the next day the doctor explained to me that it could be a couple of different reasons why my blood pressure was up but he said " we can control it with tablets" . Straight away I thought I am too young to be on tablets. So the blood test was done and I was shocked when the results came back that it was high cholesterol .
We talked about lots of possibilities but I choose to lower it myself with changing my diet mainly. I went home and started to make a plan here are the 5 ways I reduced my cholesterol :
* I started walking 30 minutes every day and even park further away from places so I would get that bit extra.
* I stopped eating butter and margarine. I replaced it with avocado . It is very nice in salads ,as a spread and also a dip.
*I stopped eating chops, steak and sausages . Replaced them with chicken and fish. Stir fries were my main meal for the day.
* Had no junk food at all ( chips, chocolate , ice cream etc).
*Lastly I started having rolled oats for breakfast, drinking more water and green tea. The rolled oats was the best thing because I was going from breakfast to lunch without feeling hungry.
I followed this plan and went back to the doctor 2 months later , he was quite impressed with how I went . I had reduced my cholesterol and am still following this plan and have never felt better. Every now and then I treat myself to a chocolate or a roast but my cholesterol is still down .
In Australia 51% of adults have high blood cholesterol- that's 6.4 million adults . That's a lot and some of them won't even know they have it. Please when you go to the doctor get them to check you blood pressure it will help you in the long run.

Sensible plan! I follow most of this.. I am getting too glued on to the comp and too lazy with the walk though! A high Fiber diet is great for lowering cholesterol and so is fenugreek. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day!
